I present a device for vitrectomy in vitreoretinal surgery for the use of wide field lenses and having the same assistant independence as a BIOM. The device is made up of 3 parts: a) Speculum with a vertical wire coming out from the blades of the speculum. b) a ring to hold the lens that has wings that are inserted by the wires of the speculum. c) weights that are inserted on top of the ring handles for stabilization. according to my experience it is quite stable and with an assistant independence. There are ophthalmologists who prefer BIOM, I prefer wide field contact lenses because of: - Better image resolution, contrast and stereopsis. -elimination of corneal aberrations. -Less number of reflective surfaces. –
